KARACHI: Customs Intelligence & Investigation Karachi (I&I) Karachi has seized a consignment of auto parts imported by M/s Malik Aftab & Imtiaz Brothers for evasion of duty/taxes through mis-declaration of actual description and quantity/weight of imported goods.
Information was received that M/s Malik Aftab & Imtiaz Brothers is involved in evasion of duty/taxes by mis-declaring actual description and quantity/weight of the imported goods.
A consignment declared to contain 1 lot of used auto spare parts was blocked after being assigned to gate out destined for dry port Islamabad.
The consignment was examined, which led to recovery of a large number of un-declared and excess goods. An additional amount of Rs8.48 million is recoverable from the importer in addition to Rs1.12 million as per declaration.
It is established that M/s Malik Aftab & Imtiaz Brothers by way of mis-declaration attempted to avoid actual leviable duty/taxes. The goods worth Rs11.1 million, which were under-declared by Rs9.7 million, have been seized.
It may be mentioned here that recently Director General Customs Intelligence and Investigation – FBR, Faiz Ahmad held a meeting with the officers of I&I Karachi including Director Saqif Saeed, Additional Director Gulam Nabi Kamboh and Assistant Director Majid Husain. Faiz Ahmed advised I&I Karachi to launch a crackdown on misuse of transshipment (TP) facility.
In view of the instruction I&I Karachi staff comprising Superintendent Abrar Ahmad, Intelligence officers Jahangir Khan, Mehfooz ur Rehman, Aqeel Alam have increased vigilance and FIRs being lodged against the culprits.
