KARACHI: Wajid Ali, Chief Collector, South (Appraisement) and Dr. Tahir Qureshi, Collector of Customs MCC, A&F (West) were directed to attend the hearing in a contempt of court application filed against them.
The application was filed by Aqeel Ahmed Advocate, counsel representing M/s Younus & Sons. The petitioner alleges in the application moved under Article 204 of the Constitution of Pakistan and Contempt ofg Court Act that the alleged contemnors are not complying with the orders of the court.
It was stated that the customs appellate bench while hearing a petition filed by Younus & Sons and others ordered that no coercive measures will be taken to recover additional amount of duty and taxes.
The counsel referred to a number of case laws and said that the alleged contemnors are trying to render the judicial orders passed by this court rendundant.
The bench after hearing arguments on contempt of court application ordered that alleged contemnors shall attend the proceedings on May 30 with their explanation.
