GWADAR: The Customs I&I Gwadar has seized 2,000 liters of cooking oil which was being smuggled to Karachi in a Mazda Truck. The Mazda Truck has also been seized. Approximate value of the goods is Rs.5 million.
Information was passed through Director Agha Saeed to Deputy Director Rana Aftab regarding movement of smuggled commodities from coastal areas to Karachi. ASO team led by Hanif Kurd mounted surveillance, which resulted into recovery of smuggled Irani cooking oil.
An official said I&I Gwadar was severely under-staffed and had not more than two dozen personnel to cover half of Baluchistan.
Irani fuel and cooking oil is smuggled to the coastal areas through launches and then it is transported and distributed to different parts of the country.
