Border crossings are a busy hub of trade between Afghanistan and Pakistan, on a direct route between the two countries. Every day, locals smuggle bags of goods over the frontier, hiking through mountains or hiding in the undercarriages of trucks. These bags contain cigarettes, computer supplies and toiletries, among other things that are brought in and out between the two countries.
Moreover, several goods are smuggled into Pakistan from Afghanistan through mis-declaration under the garb of fruits and vegetables. Further, Customs authorities have often recovered goods including arms, narcotics and currency from the secret cavities of trucks coming back from Afghanistan empty.
