HYDERABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organizations (ASOs) formations of Collectorate of Customs Hyderabad as a result of strengthened network and effective coordination has succeeded in making seizure of smuggled goods and non duty paid vehicles worth Rs.151 Million during the month of August 2021, 36% approximately higher than the corresponding month of last year.
The Collectorate conducted the intelligence based operations under able guidance of Collector, who has recently joined as Collector Hyderabad, with close coordination of law enforcing agencies and active information sharing with field formations.
Mainly, the seized goods include smuggled Narcotics (Heroin powder 485 grams net.), betel nuts 3.0 tons, Non-Customs paid vehicles (11) and other misc. goods.
On this commendable performance Collector Dr. Sadiqullah Khan appreciated the efficient and coordinated efforts of the staff of Hyderabad Collectorate especially anti-smuggling units for effecting valuable seizures during the period under report.
Collector reiterated that if these contraband and smuggled goods have not been intercepted by the Customs, money earned from the smuggled goods would have fallen into the rouge hands of smugglers, criminals and terrorists with a huge loss to public exchequer.
Collectorate of Customs Hyderabad and close coordination of Collector with Intelligence/Law Enforcement Agencies as well as field formation, the Collectorate has successfully made out seizure of smuggled/non duty paid goods and vehicles worth Rs.96 million during last ten days.
The seized goods mainly consist of Narcotics, foreign origin betel nuts, Cloths, cigarettes, Dry Fruits, Indian Gutkha, Tyres, blankets, Non-Customs paid vehicles and other misc. goods. For the excellent performance Collector Dr. Sadiqullah Khan appreciated the joint efforts of entire team of ASO and officers of Hyderabad Collectorate especially anti-smuggling units for making remarkable seizures during the period.
