KARACHI: A customs appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) discharged a contempt of court notice issued against Deputy Collector (Appraisement) West after he tendered apology.
The bench was hearing a contempt plea filed by M/s Musterhaft Apparel (Pvt) Ltd. The bench at the outset of hearing noted that department concerned has withdrawn a notice issued on charge of anti dumping and restoration of the NTN number. The bench however said that issue of recovery of additional General Sales Tax triggered by a note of Post Clearance Audit (PCA) remains to be resolved. Apparently it seems that there are no basis for claim of GST as the goods are out of charge, however interest would be served if appropriate notice is issued to the concerned department i.e PCA, the bench held ordering a notice for Sept 7, 2021.
