QUETTA: Customs Quetta has seized 450kg of high quality Charas valuing Rs150 million from a truck at Notal Check Post in Dera Murad Jamali.
Information was passed from Collector Irfan Javed to Additional Collector Yasir Wahab Kalwar regarding transportation of contraband in the garb of sand (bijri). A team under the supervision of Assistant Collector Umair Khan and comprising Superintendent Khurshid Husni, Inspectors Ali Ahmed, Nadeem Tahir and sepoys Munir Ahmed, Ibrahim Lehri and others.
The vigilance and checking of commercial traffic was increased and the suspected truck was stopped. Checking led to recovery of the narcotics concealed under the bijri. It may be mentioned here that unscrupulous elements had earlier attempted to smuggle narcotics in the garb of bijri.
It may be mentioned here that authorities have launched a crackdown on smuggling of foreign origin goods as well s narcotics, sa the money made from this dirty business is often used the anti-social and terrorist activities in the country.
