KARACHI: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Karachi (I&I Karachi) has lodged an FIR against M/s Mansoor Store Karachi for submitting fake and forged documents to clear dry coconut imported from Malaysia.
Information was received by the Director I&I Karachi Khaleel Yousfani to Additional Director Rana Tasleem Akhter and Deputy Director ASO Amjad Rajpar that M/s Mansoor Store Karachi are involved in import of Dry Coconut (Dry Copra) from Malaysia by mis-declaration of country of origin through manipulating/editing old Phytosanitary Certificate to import into Pakistan.
Pursuant to information, Phytosanitary Certificates uploaded by the importer for clearance of 13 such consignments imported from Malaysia were got verified from the Ministry of International Trade & Industry Malaysia through the Commercial Counsellor, High Commission of Pakistan, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia which confirmed that all the 13 certificates are forged.
Accordingly, FIR in respect of previously cleared 13 consignments involving duty / taxes to the tune of Rs.22.360 million has been lodged against the importer and the clearing agent.
One of the accused, namely, Daniyal Ahmed S/o Mansoor Ahmed, importer, has been arrested and further investigation is underway.
