KARACHI: The demand for electrical goods is heating up after tapering off during the Covid-19-led lockdowns as Large-Scale Manufacturing (LSM) data for April show a spike in production of refrigerators, air conditioners, and deep freezers.
Production of other power sector electrical goods such as electric transformers and meters production also witnessed strong rebound during the month under review.
On sequential basis, production of refrigerators jumped 10 percent, a 32-month high, to 131,953 units owing to a sharp recovery in demand due to easing lockdowns and ongoing heat wave across the country.
In addition, air-conditioners witnessed 78 percent increase in production as total units produced in April rose to 62,953, hitting 19-month high. Moreover, production of deep freezers increased 62 percent to 11,732 units, 22-month high.
