KARACHI: The contempt of court notices were issued against Chief Collector South, Collectors of East, West and Port Muhammad Bin Qasim collectorates for Nov 18 in dozens of applications in disposed of petitions filed by importers of tiles including Mahrosh.

According to details, the petitions pertained to exemption from custom duty and regulatory duty under SRO 497/ 2009. The SHC decided the case in favor of the petitioners/importers requiring of the custom collectorates concerned and Nazir of the High Court of Sindh (SHC).

A counsel from Franklin Law Associates appearing for the applicants/petitioners submitted that Nazir of SHC implementing the order has returned the sureties. The three collectorates were also approached besides Chief Collector of Pakistan Customs. South.

The bench comprising Justice Junaid Ghaffar and Justice Agha Faisal after hearing the initial arguments from the law firm ordered issuance of contempt of court notices for Nov 18 to the alleged contemnors.
