KARACHI: In a mysterious turn of events, MCC Preventive released the large quantity of blankets that were seized two days earlier for being smuggled.
According to details, Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of MCC Preventive Karachi raided a warehouse in Shershah area and recovered 8 containers load of smuggled blankets. The raid was conducted on the directives of Collector Preventive Saquif Saeed.
The owners of the goods presented a 2018 GD in support of their claim of legal possession, which was not accepted by the ASO staff, as there was specific information of the goods being cleared through mis-declaration.
However, Collector Saquif Saeed went on 6-day leave, and the charge was given was given to Collector Exports Karachi Imtiaz Sheikh. Subsequently, the 2018 GD was accepted and the consignment was released on Wednesday.
