KARACHI: Customs agents have urged the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to facilitate e-payments of duty and taxes on immediate basis.

Hasan Tariq of VClear Group of Companies said Customs authorities have been asking the central bank to facilitate e-payments for a long time, but SBP had not done anything in this regard as yet.

He said only individuals could make e-payments while the association of persons, private limited companies and public listed companies were unable to make electronic payments.

He urged the SBP to immediately issue IDs to all importers enabling them to continue their business in a safe environment.

It may be mentioned here that a meeting chaired by Chief Collector Wasif Memon decided that State Bank of Pakistan will be approached to facilitate e-payment of duty and taxes, while WeBOC module would also be updated to facilitate e-payments
