HYDERABAD: During the third quarter of the current financial year (Jan 2020 to Mar 2020), the Directorate of Customs Intelligence & Investigation-Customs, Hyderabad has performed exceptionally well in the field of anti-smuggling with 51% growth of cases/seizures over the corresponding period of last year.

A total of 50 seizures were made from January 2020 to March 2020 worth Rs.236.03 Million as against Rs.156.748 Million during last corresponding period. Moreover, the Regional Directorate has also achieved 175% of the assigned target of Rs.135 Million for the third quarter.

Despite the lockdown due to the Corona Virus Pandemic, the Regional Directorate has shown remarkable increase in the value of seizures for the month of March 2020.

During the last month, total 23 seizures worth Rs.94.716 Million were made which is more than 210% of the assigned target of Rs. 45 Million for the month of March.

Director Dr. Sadiqullah Khan appreciated the efforts of ASO wing of the Directorate headed by Deputy Director Syed Muhammad Raza Naqvi and his team especially Intelligence Officer (I.O) Syed Shafiq Ali.

The team of ASO worked tirelessly under the supervision of Syed Naeem Akhtar, Additional Director and conducted various Intelligence Based Operations (IBOs) and affected 10 seizures worth Rs.90.944 million during 3rd quarter of the current fiscal year.

Moreover, the Directorate also conducted six (06) joint operations with Civil Armed Forces (CAF) including Pakistan Rangers and Sindh Police during this period.

The major items seized during last quarter include cigarettes, cloth, betel nut, Iranian tiles and Indian gutka.

In the light of overall performance of this Regional Directorate, the Director Dr. Sadiqullah Khan appreciated the whole team and advised them to make all out efforts in the last quarter for achieving the assigned target of Rs. 680 Million.
