PESHAWAR: Customs Intelligence Peshawar, on the directives of Director Rashid Habib, is concentrating on its anti-smuggling drive as smugglers take advantage of situations like the prevailing Corona threat.

Customs Intelligence Peshawar recovered almonds and cigarettes worth millions of rupees from Hino trucks near Bannu Cantt, Bannu.

Under instructions from Additional Director, Intelligence and Investigation (Customs)-FBR, Peshawar, the campaign against smuggling is in full swing.

An information was received by the Additional Director that an attempt would be made to smuggle huge quantity of Almonds and Cigarettes from tribal area to down country. In pursuance of the said information, the staff of Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation (Customs)-FBR. Peshawar held a naka near Bannu Cantt, Bannu.

A suspected vehicle was stopped and searched on the spot and contraband (Almonds and Cigarettes) were recovered from the said truck. The vehicle was then brought to the premises of the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation (Customs)-FBR, Peshawar where thorough examination led to the recovery of 5365 Kgs Almonds and 21250 Sticks of Cigarettes, which have been seized along with vehicle.

The estimated value of the aforementioned seized goods including the vehicle is around Rs54.4 million.
