KARACHI: MCC Preventive Karachi has lodged an FIR against several persons for importing and clearing high value goods in the garb of unaccompanied baggage.
A Baggage Declaration was filedĀ on behalf of a passenger namely Muhammad Tariq who had travelled from China to Pakistan, for clearance of unaccompanied baggage comprising one container declared as personal effects.
The examination of the consignment found the goods to be commercial quantities of OEM auto parts of European and Chinese origin, LED lights and other miscellaneous goods. The goods have been seized.
During initial probe, it was revealed that accused were approached by two other persons named Anwar Khatri and Syed Shabaz Aziz along with the original passport of the passenger and import documents for filing of a baggage declaration. The clearing agent failed to provide any more details about the two individuals and also failed to produce owner of the goods.
An FIR is lodged against accused Anwar Khatri, Syed Shahbaz Aziz, Muhammad Tariq and others.
Collector Preventive Saquif Saeed has advised Additional Collector Umar Shafiq to keep strict vigilance on the movement of baggage consignments and conduct examination of such consignments to avoid smuggling and revenue loss.
