KARACHI: The performance of Directorate General of Intelligence & Investigation Karachi, under the leadership of Director Irfan Javed, has shown a considerable improvement in both its Anti-Smuggling and Enforcement functions.
The Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) of Customs Intelligence & Investigation Karachi made 60 cases involving revenue of Rs346.347 million, while goods worth Rs527.266 were seized during five months (July-November 2019). October remained a very eventful month, wherein ASO seized goods worth Rs289.512 million involving revenue of Rs117.988 million.
The number of Anti-Smuggling seizures was up 117 percent during the period, while the value of these cases was up 60.6 percent.
Similarly, the Directorate made 7 Enforcement seizures during the period involving revenue of Rs8.179 million. Moreover, 7 Enforcement Contraventions were served involving revenue of Rs305.635 million.
The number of enforcement seizures increased by 42.8 percent, value of the goods involved surged 333 percent and quantity of revenue involved was 1003 percent.
