KARACHI: ASO of MCC Preventive has lodged two FIRs against certain Afghan importers for violating Afghan Transit Trade Rules.

M/s TPL Tracker Private Limited reported that certain Afghan Transit Trade vehicles had made an unusual stoppage and had deviated from specified route. Collector MCC Preventive Saquib Saeed advised Deputy Collector Akbar Jan to coordinate with the tracking company.

Superintendent Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization Jamal Zia sent teams at the specified areas and spotted the aforementioned vehicles, which were loaded with “Saw Dust” on the container in addition to bonded transit cargo which is not permissible under Afghan Transit Trade Rules.

This very fact affirmed that the Bonded Carrier / Transport Operator failed to comply with the standard and strict liabilities as envisaged in the Rules and the terms and condition of the license. Therefore, the vehicles along with all relevant documents were taken into the possession.

The detailed examination led to recovery of solar panels and used clothing, but the goods were not marked ‘via Karachi in transit to Afghanistan’, which is a violation of the rules.

The goods, vehicles and containers worth Rs77 million approximately have been seized and investigations are underway. The FIR nominates Afghan importers M/s Haqiqat Qureshi Limited, M/s Rowandi and Brothers, M/s Khair Andish Limited, M/s Jalat Khan & Co and bonded carrier M/s Limsa Agencies.
