KARACHI: The Directorate of Intelligence & Investigations (DIT), Pakistan Customs removed hold placed on consignment of Rock Mars, importer/distributor of Samsung parts in Pakistan soon after a division bench of High Court of Sindh on Wednesday warned of initiating contempt of court proceedings if its orders dated 13-9-2019 and 10-10-2019 are not complied with in letter and spirit.

The bench earlier in the day heard a counsel from Franklin Law Associates who submitted that the Model Customs Collectorate, Appraisement West has released the container on the orders of the court but the same could not be delivered due to a hold placed by the DIT. The DIT has no concern with the said consignment and cannot order other formation to act on their advice.

As no one from DIT was in attendance, the bench ordered personal appearance of Assistant Director DIT, Asad Aleem on Dec 31 and while ordering compliance of orders passed earlier warned that if orders of the court were not implemented in letter and spirit, contempt proceedings would be initiated against the delinquent official.

The DIT hours after SHC order removed the hold and asked the collectorate concerned to deliver the goods to the petitioner.
