KARACHI: The Ministry of Finance vide SRO 675(I)/2019 has extended the imposition of Regulatory Duty (RD) on the import of molasses; wet blue hides and skin; copper scrap/waste; scrap of lead; lead products and waste and scrap of primary cells.

The government had imposed RD of 25 percent on 8 items for a period of one year ended June 30, 2019. However, the Ministry of Finance has notified continuation of the regulatory duty for an indefinite period.

These Regulatory Duties include 15 percent on Molasses; 20 percent on raw and wet blue hides and skins; 25 percent on waste and scrap of copper; 25 percent on unwrought lead; 25 percent on ferrous and non ferrous waste and scrap of lead; 25 percent on lead plates, sheets, strip and foil, lead powders and flakes;  25 percent on waste and scrap of primary cells, primary batteries and electric accumulators, spent primary cells, spent primary batteries and electric accumulators, electrical parts of machinery or apparatus.

Moreover, RD equivalent to the price differential claim (PDC) in PKR/liter of high speed diesel (HSD) and super kerosene oil (SKO) as notified by Ministry of Energy plus 1.0 percent of prevalent consumer price to cover for foreign exchange loss, shall be levied on export of HSD and SKO to Afghanistan for another year.
