KARACHI: An appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Zulfiqar Ahmed Khan on Wednesday ordered de-blocking of the bank accounts of two individuals who purchased imported fabric locally.
Bashir Ahmed and Ghulam Nabi moved the court through Franklin Law Associates against action of the RTO Zone III wherein Investigation Officer of a case wrote letters to the banks where the applicants were maintaining bank accounts to freeze the same.
The counsel from Franklin Law Associates submitted that petitioners/applicants have no nexus with the alleged crime and they purchased the items without knowing that some case is pending in reference to offending goods. This was a matter between a tax evaders and RTO and blocking the bank accounts of the petitioners is unlawful.
The bench after hearing the sides and admission by the respondent that action was based on misunderstanding, disposed of the petition with the direction to unfreeze the bank accounts of the petitioners.
