KARACHI: A division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Zulfiqar Ahmed Khan on Wednesday hearing a number of identical petitions challenging appointment of principal S.M.Law College allowed Board of Governor to decide the issue while fixing May 29 as next date of hearing.
A number of senior lawyers appearing for the petitioner submitted that the management, respondents are delaying the decision for ulterior motives. A committee has been formed purportedly, Irony is that the man who himself is an applicant is receiving applications, Barrister Abid Zuberi contended.
Abrar Hasan advocate appearing for the respondent submitted that delay was due to genuine reasons. The candidates have been short listed and a committee headed by Justice Mehmood A Khan will be interviewing the short listed candidates.
The counsel for respondent raised issue of maintainability which irked the bench. We have serious reservations over the issue. We know in what shape the college is, the bench said asking the respondent side to file a written statement detailing the possible nearest date for resolving the controversy.
The said statement was filed by the fag end of the day’s proceeding and the bench perusing the same adjourned further proceedings till May 29 hoping the resolution of the dispute by then.
