KARACHI: Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) has proposed that a special infrastructure package be announced for Karachi, as shortages in this regard were the prime reason of higher cost of doing business.
It may be mentioned here that Karachi is the largest industrial and shipping hub of the country and contributes around 52 percent in the country’s total exports.
Acting president of Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) Faraz-ur-Rehman expressed hope the government would provide relief to industry in the upcoming mini budget. [the_ad id=”31605″] KATI office bearers applauded the efforts of federal government to promote exports and measures to lower down production cost of Industry, a statement said.
“Although relief in power sector was much appreciated however government should consider that there are huge imports of industry’s raw material and a policy should be well defined for these production related imports,” Rehman said.
He further said infrastructural issues were basic reason of increased cost of doing business and production, especially the industry in Karachi was suffering a lot due to infrastructural shortages and proposed a special package for the prosperity of industry established in the city.
