KARACHI: A customs appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Abdul Malik Gaddi on Monday ordered respondent custom officials to release an Asphalt paver machine and also issue delay detention certificate to the importer/petitioner.

The bench was hearing a petition filed by Ashraf D Baloch Company engaged in construction work. The custom officials concerned blocked the release of the paver machine on ground that it was of an older model import of which is banned under Import Policy 2016. Ms Dil Khurram Shaheen advocate appearing for the petitioner company submitted that the consignment in dispute does not fall within the prohibitory clause and was thus freely importable.

The bench after hearing the arguments from both sides ordered the respondent custom officials to release the consignment and also to issue the delay detention certificate.
