GWADAR: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) has sought duty free access to Chinese market for exports from the industry setup in Gwadar free zone.
A delegation led by President FPCCI Daaroo Khan Achakzai called on Chairman of China Overseas Ports Holding Company (COPHC), Zhang Baozhong and discussed industrial development in Gwadar.
“Zhang Bao assured assued FPCCI delegation that he will recommend to the Chinese government to waive 6.0 percent import duty for export industry setup in Gwadar free zone,” FPCCI President said in a statement.
The meeting was informed that electricity would be provided to industries setup in Gwadar free zone on subsidized rate while China Overseas Ports Holding Company (COPHC) would provide all the infrastructure and water to the industry, while arrangements were being made for supply of gas.
Chairman Siddique Sons, Tariq Rafi said that they would consider setting up industrial unit in Gwadar free zone for export to China, if the import duty was waived.
The delegation comprised of Arif Habib, Tariq Rafi, Nadeem Riaz, Abid Sattar, Khurshed Zafar, Kalid Tawab and Tariq Haleem.
