KARACHI: Directorate General of Training and Research has undertaken certain unprecedented initiatives, which are expected to usher in substantial and tangible value addition to Pakistan Customs Service.
It is for the first time that foreign experts from National Crime Agency (NCA) of United Kingdom and Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL) of United States of America have been engaged in training the Assistant Collectors (Under Training) for two weeks in December 2018.
The initiative was taken by Director Irfan Javed.
This collaborative arrangement has been made to train the young officers on International Best Practices in Customs matters with specific reference to investigation, intelligence gathering & sharing, marine enforcement and money laundering etc.
The NCA has also consented to impart training to serving officers of Customs on advanced boarding and rummaging techniques.
Another initiative has been undertaken wherein similar trainings will become a regular feature and part of the trainings of future hatches of Assistant Collectors (Under Training).
Both the agencies have been engaged and discussions on future course of trainings are underway.
Moreover, the officers were imparted training to use automatic weapons at Razzakabad Training Center.
