KARACHI: Pakistan’s first ever freight train in private sector is scheduled to launch its service from December 25, 2018, from Karachi Cantt Station to Lahore.
Federal Minister for Railways, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed will inaugurate the train. The project of freight train has been initiated by Marine Group following an agreement signed with Pakistan Railways Freight Transport Company (PRFTC).
As per agreement, the freight trains will be run on daily basis in the first phase and then another train will be added later on between Lahore and Karachi while other sectors including Multan, Faisalabad, Sialkot would also be added into the network.
The CEO of Marine Group, Asim Siddiqui said that his company would provide freight guarantee on 75 wagons to Pakistan Railways.
