KARACHI: An appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) on Friday ordered Pakistan Customs to release consignment of suit cases and hand bags made of artificial leather and release consignment and report compliance on next date of hearing.
The bench earlier heard the counsel for petitioner company ‘”Super Hous” who submitted that consignment was out of charge when appraiser blocked the release on ground that exemption claimed under SRO 1123 and 777 of 2018 is not available any more. The said SRO’s allows reduced rate of Salex Tax to importer.
The counsel submitted that in past such concession was available on regular basis. He also questioned the jurisdiction exercised by the Appraiser.
The bench agreeing with the arguments advanced by the petitioner directed the customs department to release the consignment and submit compliance report by Dec 17, next date of hearing in the case.
