KARACHI: A customs appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Zulfiqar Ahmed Khan on Tuesday ordered provisional release of kitchen range hoods and other ware.
The bench was hearing a petition filed by Messrs Fotile. Ms Dil Khurram Shaheen advocate, counsel for petitioner submitted copy of an earlier judgment by another SHC bench which declared the Circular issued by the Collector Customs as null and void. She submitted that the custom authorities have detained the consignment in view of circular.
The bench after hearing the sides ordered custom authorities to release consignment provisionally while adjourning further proceedings to an unspecifieddate.
The same bench also adjourned another petition filed by an importer Aziz-ur-Rahman seeking refund of remaining amount lying with the custom authorities who earlier auctioned consignment comprising old clothes.
The petitioner failed to get the consignment released as he was unable to pay the demurrage and other levies.
