KARACHI: The meeting of High Power Board to consider promotion of BS-21 officers into BS-22, scheduled to be held on October 24, 2018 has been postponed and the meeting is likely to be convened in the first week of November 2018.

The meeting was scheduled for October 24, 2018, which was postponed due to unavailability of Prime Minister Imran Khan. It may be mentioned here that Prime Minister chairs the meeting of the high power board.

Since PM will be on the visit of Malaysia after his visit of Saudi Arabia, the board is likely to meet next month.
There are two BS-22 slots for Pakistan Customs Service. Chairman FBR has forwarded names of six BS-21 officers for promotion in BS-22 to the Establishment Division. These officers include Director General Customs Intelligence & Investigation Shaukat Ali, Member Customs Zahid Khokhar, Director General Transit Trade Javed Ghani, Chief Instructor SMC Fazal Yazdani, Chief Collector Appraisement South Abdul Rasheed Shaikh and Saleem Ranjha.

Shaukat Ali is facing several inquiries and investigations. Zahid Khokhar has not been efficient in his capacity of Member Customs-FBR, and was unable to control smuggling and revenue leakage. Javed Ghani has not been impressive in his capacity as Director General Transit Trade and he introduced no reforms.

Fazal Yazdani is known as a competent and honest officer. He is presently serving as Chief Instructor Senior Management Course (SMC).  Chief Collector Appraisement Abdul Rasheed Sheikh is said to be involved in the misuse of Green Channel facility and protecting unscrupulous importers. He is also facing certain inquiries. Saleem Ranjha is a carrier officer and is known as an honest and somewhat competent officer.
