KARACHI: A custom appellate bench of Sindh High Court (SHC) comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Mrs Ashraf Jahan allowed three identical petitions, two filed by Atif Brothers (Pvt) Ltd and another by WTA Traders.
The petitioners imported consignments of tyres which were detained by the custom officials on ground that some recovery remains in respect of previous consignment imported by the petitioners.
A counsel from Franklin Law Associates appearing for the petitioners submitted that there is no claim against consignments in question and if there is some short payment or recovery is to be made then the customs department should resort to proper procedure, issue charge sheet. No show cause is issued, the counsel submitted praying for the release of the consignments.
The bench after hearing counsel for the department ordered release of the consignments.
