KARACHI: Additional Collector, Appraisement, West reserved an order in a plea filed by J.Y.Corporation, a clearing agent against notice for cancellation of license.
According to details, the clearing agent filed documents for release of a Toyota Coaster, imported under personal baggage scheme. The custom officials during a routine check found that chassis number of the said vehicle was punched. A show cause notice was issued to the applicant against which an appeal is pending. During hearing of the plea, the counsel for appellant maintained that clearing agent role is limited to the filing of Bill of Landing (BL), Goods Declaration or GD or filing documents required for the clearance of imported item from the port while he has nothing to do with a criminal act.
The appellate forum after hearing the counsel for contesting sides reserved the order.
