KARACHI: The Customs staff at Quetta Airport foiled an attempt to smuggle mobile phones into the country and arrested one person coming from Dubai.
According to details, information was received through Collector MCC Quetta Ashraf Ali that attempts would be made to smuggle foreign origin mobiles phones by the passengers coming from Dubai-Quetta bound flights.
Deputy Collector AFU Ibrahim, Superintendent Abdul Razzaq and Inspector Nasrulllah Khattak tightened the vigilance. During the course, a passenger identified as Ameerzada s/o Shahzada Khan, having his luggage on a trolley was spotted.
He was asked to produce the luggage tags, he produced 4 tags, wherein two tags had the same numbers. The examination of the bags resulted in recovery of 722 mobile phones having a market value of around Rs5.0 million. Further investigation is under progress.
