KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence & Investigation Hyderabad has seized 24,000 of smuggled Irani diesel worth Rs2.29 million.
Information was received through Director General Customs Intelligence Shaukat Ali to Additional Director Ahsan Khan that huge quantity of smuggled/non duty paid diesel loaded on a ranker would be smuggled into up-country via Karachi. A team of officers of Directorate headed by Principal appraiser Irshad Ali Shah was constituted to foil such attempt of smuggling.
The suspected vehicle was spotted and the persons in the vehicle could not produce any document regarding the legal import possession and transportation of loaded diesel at the spot. Therefore, the vehicle along with loaded HSD was taken into possession by the staff and escorted to office of Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation, Hyderabad. Investigation into the matter is in progress.
