KARACHI: A division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Omar Sial ordered release of a bus on payment of redemption fine as interim arrangement.
The bench was hearing a petition filed by Mir Ahmed, owner of the bus confiscated by the Hyderabad collectorate on ground that the impounded vehicle was used in smuggling of goods.
Ms Dil Khurram Shaheen advocate, counsel for petitioner earlier argued that petitioner was sentenced to undergo imprisonment for23 days besides paying a fine of rupees 100,000 by the Special Customs Court.
The bench asked that when delinquent has been sentenced then why the vehicle was confiscated. However pending a reply from the respondent collectorate, the bench as an interim arrangement ordered release of the bus against payment of re-demption file.
The same bench hearing three identical petitions pertaining to scrap tyes, the bench adjourned further proceedings till Nov 22 as reply from the Climate Change Division is awaited.
