KARACHI: A division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Zulfiqar Ahmed Khan on Thursday ordered Deputy Collector, Pakistan Customs, MCC East to come up with an explanation on Aug 24 over non release of a consignment even after securing differential amount.
The bench was hearing a constitution petition filed by Mini Tech Corporation challenging an Order in Revision passed by the Director General, Valuation, Pakistan Customs maintaining a Valuation Ruling.
The DC appeared in person on a court notice and was asked about disobedience of the orders of the court. The bench ordered forthwith release of the remaining part of the consignment while seeking an explanation on Aug 24 that why orders passed by the bench on a previous date were not complied with.
The appellant imported Networking Cable and Networking Cable, Fiber Optic from China. The Customs Valuation enhanced the value of Networking cable from US $ 2 to 2.5 while of Networking Cable, Fiber Optic from US $ 2 to 3.8 under Valuation Ruling 1187/2016. The appellant/importer challenged the same on ground that section 25 was not followed while determining and issuing VR in question. The departmental appellate authority maintained the VR in Order in Revision which was now assailed before the appellate tribunal. Franklin Law Associates is representing the appellant.
