KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has deprived chief commissioners, chief collectors and director generals of the power to transfer and post officers and officials of any grade.
According to a notification, Member Admin-FBR is authorized to notify transfers and postings of officers of Grade-17 to Grade-19 while officials in BS-01 to BS-16 will be moved by Chief Management-FBR of Inland Revenue and Chief Management-FBR of Customs.
The measure is taken to eliminate the undue influence of chief commissioners, chief collectors and director generals over the field staff.
However, chief commissioners, chief collectors and director generals would remain the authorized authority when it comes to ex-Pakistan leave of BS-16 to BS-19 officials/officers for hajj and umrah; recreational leave for field formations and maternity leave for field formations. However, a copy of the orders in this respect would have to be furnished to FBR.
