KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has suspended the application of valuation guidelines and barred the Customs authorities from taking any coercive action against the importers till the next date of hearing.
However, the Court has authorized the authorities to take steps to determine and reassess the values of the goods in terms of Section 25 of Customs Act 1969.
In case, such assessment is in excess than the value declared, the imported consignment could only be released after securing the differential amount.
Importers challenged the application of valuation guidelines, which is subject matter of several suits pending before the court and subject to initiating the process of determining the value of importable goods in terms of Section 25 of Customs Act.
Faisal Ghani CEO of Franklin Law Associates nominated advocate Talal Tariq Khurshid to represent the importer before the Court.
