KARACHI: MCC Preventive Karachi has seized three smuggled/non-duty paid vehicles and lodged FIRs against three persons who owned these vehicles.
According to details of the case, information was received that a Mercedes Benz, A Toyota Prado and a Toyota Mark-II Saloon were spotted and these vehicles were reported to be smuggled.
After due process these three vehicles were apprehended and were brought to NMB Wharf. Mercedes Benz without registration plate was recovered at M/s Qadeer Auto Mobile Engineers Workshop from the custody of Saeed Khan and is valued at Rs2.97 million.
Toyota Mark-II Saloon car valuing Rs2.08 million was apprehended at Defense Phase-VIII and is owned by Zark Khan s/o Khan Mohammad Khan.
Toyota Prado valuing Rs2.16 million was recovered from M/s Umer Auto Workshop and it was in the custody of Aurungzaib mechanic.
Detailed verification and scrutiny found that Toyota Mark-II Saloon was registered by the Motor Registration Authority Karachi on the basis of fake, forged and fabricated documents. Therefore the vehicle was seized and an FIR was lodged accordingly.
The mechanics Aurungzaib and Saeed Khan were directed to contact the owners of these vehicles and advise them to appear before the authorities with documents to substantiate the lawful import and possession of these vehicles.
However, no one appeared claiming the ownership of these vehicles. Therefore, FIRs were lodged and investigations were initiated to arrest the absconding accused persons.
