KARACHI: Director General of Customs Valuation Syed Tanveer Ahmed has issued Order-in-Revision 222/2016 updating the customs values of blankets determined vide Valuation Ruling No.878/2016.
Blanket manufacturers including M/s Sanaullah Home Textile and others approached Directorate General seeking revision of the Valuation Ruling No.878/2016.
The importers contended that above valuation ruling ws issued without considering its impact on local industry.
After detailed deliberation, the Directorate General observed that the value of polyester fleece fabric ranged from $3.1/kg to $3.4/kg as per Valuation Ruling 683/2014. The blankets are made of superior quality pile fabric and should not be assessed below fabric value already fixed in valuation ruling.
The values of blankets finished and unfinished needs correction and fixed above the fabric. Directorate General has increased the values of blankets and advised the Director Valuation to fix separate values for blanket fabric.
