KARACHI: MCC Islamabad has seized a large quantity of mobile phones worth Rs2.0 million and arrested a passenger who attempted to clear the same without paying duty/taxes.
MCC Islamabad under the directives of Collector Arsalan Subactageen is keeping strict vigilance on the movement of smuggled goods.
Accordingly, 336 smart mobiles phones were seized at Benazir Bhutto International Airport Islamabad from a passenger named Javed Amjad, resident of Rawalpindi, arriving from Dubai through EK 614.
Estimated value of mobiles comes to Rs2.0 million. FIR lodged is lodged, passenger is arrested and investigations are underway.
In another action, Customs Staff at BBI Airport Islamabad seized a commercial consignment of medicines and pharmaceuticals being attempted to be illegally transported to Urmaqi, China from two outgoing passengers. Consignments are seized and investigations are in progress.
