KARACHI: The Director of Customs Valuation Dr. Wasif Memon has revised the customs values of ginger and garlic vide Valuation Ruling No.822.

The Customs Values of Ginger and Garlic were determined Valuation Ruling No. 783/2015. All Pakistan Fresh Ginger & Garlic Importers and Whole Sellers Association and some other importer filed revision petition against the Customs Value of determined vide Valuation Ruling No. 783/2015.

The Reviewing Authority i.e. Director General of Customs Valuation, vide Order in Revision No. 169/2015 dated 07-03-2016 remanded the case back to the Director Customs Valuation for the revision of Valuation Ruling accordingly and also indicated that the value of the Thailand origin Ginger is lower than value of Chinese origin Ginger. As per order of Director General of Customs Valuation against the valuation ruling No. 783/2015 and with a view to reflect the current prices prevailing in the international market, an exercise to determine the Customs values of subject goods was under taken.

Accordingly, fresh ginger under PCT Chapter 09.10 imported from China would be assessed to duty and taxes at $0.52/KG; fresh ginger under PCT Chapter 09.10 imported from Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar at $0.55/KG, of India via land route at $0.55/KG and of Thailand would be assessed to duty and taxes at $0.35/KG.

Dry ginger under PCT Chapter 09.10 imported from China would be assessed to duty and taxes at $2.0/KG; dry ginger under PCT Chapter 09.10 imported from Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Nigeria and India would be assessed to duty and taxes at $1.90/KG.

Garlic of China under PCT 0703.2000 would be assessed to duty and taxes at $1.1.9/KG and of India via land route at $1.80/KG. Dehydrated garlic flakes under PCT 0712.9000 imported from India via land route would be assessed to duty and taxes at $1.45/KG.
