KARACHI: A divisional bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and Justice Zulfiqar Ahmed Khan on Thursday disposed of about 12 identical petitions directing the Special Customs Tribunal to decide the appeals within 20 days.
The court also directed the Tribunal to submit a report to the Member Inspection Team (MIT) regarding disposal of the appeals.
The bench was hearing a petition filed by Abdullah Sons and others. When the petitions were taken up for hearing, law officer of Pakistan customs, Ilyas Ahsan pointed out that High Court has time and again issued orders to the tribunal to decide the appeals but these orders were not implemented till date. He urged for implementation of the orders passed earlier. The petitioners agitate the issue before this court but shy away from making a simple application before the Tribunal to convey the direction of the HC and take a decision from it at the earliest.
The bench finding the proposition appropriate while disposing of the petitions with direction to the special customs appellate tribunal to decide the appeals within 20 days and tribunal was asked to submit a report to the MIT of SHC after the decision in appeals. The petitions pertain to Valuation in respect of Soap involving Valuation Ruling 737 of 2015.
