KARACHI: MCC Appraisement West has lodged as many as 13 FIRs against several accused for importing viscose blended fabric and mis-declaring port of shipment as China instead of UAE with ulterior motive.

FIRs have booked Usman Jawad of M/s R Usman Enterprises, Faiz Ahmed of M/s Famitex, Abdul Jabbar of M/s Rose Impex, M/s AMI Pakistan Pvt Ltd and Sharjeel Jamal of M/s U Trade Logistics Pvt Ltd.

M/s R Usman Enterprises imported nine consignments declared to contain Viscose Blended Fabric and Polyester Shirting Fabric from China and got them cleared vide GD No. KAPW-HC-7965, KAPW-HC-72302, KAPW-HC-78314, KAPW-HC-66553, KAPW-HC-84826, KAPW-HC-91566, KAPW-HC-78339, KAPW-HC-74793, KAPW-HC-84830 through their nominated Custom House Agent M/s U Trade Logistics Pvt Ltd.

M/s Famitex imported three consignments declared to contain Textile Grey Fabric and Textile Shirting Fabric and got them cleared vide GD Nos. KAPW-HC-21775, KAPW-HC-21778, KAPW-HC-21901 through their nominated Custom House Agent M/s U Trade Logistics Pvt Ltd.

M/s Rose Impex imported a consignments declared to contain Textile Grey Fabric and got it cleared vide GD No. KAPW-HC-29149 through their nominated Custom House Agent M/s U Trade Logistics Pvt Ltd.

All the bills of lading of the above mentioned GDs borne the name of shipper as “Ziang Niong Corporation, Ningbo, China and port of loading as China.

In the meanwhile, credible information was received in MCC Appraisement West to the effect that the above named accused importers with the active connivance of freight forwarder M/s AMI Pakistan Pvt Ltd and Customs clearing agent M/s U Trade Logistics have been involved in the clearance of the above goods by mis-declaring the vital information with regard to the shipper’s name, port of loading, whereas, the goods were actually shipped by M/s AMI, Middle East LLC, Dubai UAE, in the name of M/s AMI Pakistan Pvt, Ltd, Karachi as consignee and port of loading as Dubai, UAE.

During the course of scrutiny, it was been found that the said 13 consignments were imported vide vessels whose shipping line happened to be M/s United Marine, Agencies Pvt Ltd Karachi. However, they further handed over the said consignment to M/s AMI Pakistan Pvt Ltd Karachi being freight forwarder, who electronically fed the information with the Customs in the import manifest (IGM) with regard to port of shipment of the goods as China, whereas, the goods were actually shipped from UAE.

Accordingly, M/s AMI Pakistan Pvt Ltd, Karachi issued the said bills of lading by mentioning the port of shipment as Ningbo, China and shipper’s name as M/s Ziang Niong Corporation, Ningbo China.

It has been established beyond any shadow of doubt that the above mentioned consignments were actually imported from UAE, Dubai instead of China as shown in Master Bills of Lading, hence, M/s AMI Pakistan Pvt Ltd sub-agent/ freight forwarder in connivance with M/s R Usman Enterprises, M/s Rose Impex and M/s Famitex  and Customs Agent M/s U Trade Logistics Pvt Ltd deliberately mis-declared the port of shipment of the goods as China as against the actual port of shipment UAE and shipper name as M/s Ziang Niong Corporation, Ningbo China, to hoodwink the Customs authorities with the ulterior motive.

Efforts are underway to apprehend the accused persons involved in this crime and ascertain financial aspects of the case.
