KARACHI: Director General Custom Valuation Samaira Nazir Khan has rejected the review petition filed against Valuation Ruling No. 610/2013 adding that the Ruling was appropriate.
The importers of ear phones and head phones had submitted that the said ruling was unfavorable as the rate charged by Customs authorities was on the higher side whereas the prices of these goods were very lower in local markets.
Electronics Goods Importers Association submitted that due to fresh wave of financial crisis in the international market, the prices of above commodities magnificently decreased.
Importer M/s Digital Site Lahore submitted that previously the same goods were assessed and cleared at the rate of $0.02/pc and $1.00 Kg, but the Valuation Ruling 610/2013 had fixed the rates at $0.38/pc and $12.00/kg.
The importers noted that because of non-revision of valuation, huge augmentation in the ratio of smuggling would be at a glance.
DG noted based upon observation on the petitioner’s arguments recorded during the preliminary proceedings, certain instructions were given for fresh analysis of the disputed valuation. Consequently, it was decided by the competent authority to issue a Corrigendum to amend and re-vise/re-determine the custom value of imported goods namely Head Phones & Ear Phones. Whereupon the impugned Valuation ruling No.610/2013 was amended through issuance of this Corrigendum and as such the disputed valuation now stands resolved and apparently settled to the satisfaction of concerned stakeholders.
