KARACHI: A meeting of Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) with Supreme Court of Pakistan has developed consensus on clubbing and early hearing of cases.
The meeting decided that FBR would prepare a list of cases, after categorization on issue/subject basis and submit to the registrar Supreme Court of Pakistan for clubbing and early hearing so that the issues are finally adjudged.
The Board has advised all field formations of FBR to submit a report regarding cases pending in Supreme Court after issue wise categorization mentioning revenue involved.
The FBR has also advised to ensure authenticity and accuracy of the information as the same has to be submitted to the Supreme Court.
Sources said that the above-mentioned meeting also discussed the jurisdiction of judiciary. FBR was of the view that the jurisdiction of sub-ordinate judicial forums should be cleared and communicated.
This is a normal practice that cases of Lahore, Peshawar or Islamabad etc are presented and heard at Courts in different parts of the country.
It may be mentioned here that a large number of cases are pending litigation at various judicial forums due to which a huge amount of potential revenue is stuck-up.
It was known that all the field formations have started compiling details of the cases before Supreme Court. The exercise is aimed to secure the national revenue stuck-up due to litigation.
