KARACHI: Pakistan Customs on Wednesday determined customs values of all origin tamarind with seeds at $0.30 per kilogram for collection of duty and taxes.
In this regard, Directorate General of Customs Valuation has issued valuation ruling No.687/2014 for the said item.
According to notification, Model Customs Collectorate, Appraisement (West), Karachi had asked for revision of customs values of tamarind with seeds of different countries.
Deductive value method was applied to arrive at the assessable customs values.
Two meetings were held with stakeholders from August to September 2014 including importers, representatives of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), Karachi Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and M/s Pakistan Kiryana Merchants Association, Karachi.
A notification said that in case of consignments imported by air, the assessing officer shall take into account the differential between air freight and sea freight while applying the customs values determined in this ruling.
A review petition may be filed against this ruling within 30 days from the date of issue before the Director General, Directorate General of Customs Valuation.
It said that the Collectorate of Customs should ensure that the values given in the ruling for t he given description of goods are applied by the concerned staff without fail and any anomaly observed may kindly be brought to the notice of Directorate General immediately.
