KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has suspended Ashfaq Ahmed Khan, Principal Appraiser, Model Customs Collectorate of Appraisement, Karachi for a period of three months.

Khan has been suspended under Rule 5(I) of the Government Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rules 1973, which provides that in case where a Government servant is accused of subversion, corruption or misconduct, the authorized officer may require him to proceed on leave or, with the approval of the authority suspend him, provided that any continuation of such leave or suspension shall require approval of the authority after every three months.

According to sources, Ashfaq Ahmed Khan had been suspended in connection of Wellard Shipment of 21,000 Australian sheep controversy.

However, sources added, that his suspension was a little before time as the case had not been fully cracked as yet and it was suspected there might some others behind the scene.
