KARACHI: The Member (Admn) Federal Board of Revenue has imposed a major penalty of ‘Reduction to lower stage in his current time scale equal to three increments’ upon Walayat Khan (IRS/BS-17), Assistant Commissioner, Regional Tax Office, Sialkot, as he was found guilty of inefficiency and misconduct.
The inquiry against the accused conducted by Chief Commissioner IR, RTO, Lahore established that Walayat Khan through illegal acts caused financial loss to the national exchequer and damaged the image of the department.
The inquiry found that the accused issued refunds to the tune of Rs4.27 million, which were not due; issued refunds of Rs1.587 million out of time limitation and authorized duplicate refunds of Rs2.13 million causing a cumulative loss of Rs6.07 million to the exchequer.
Walayat Khan has been imposed the penalty under Government Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 1973, who have right of appeal to the Appellate Authority under Civil Servants (Appeals) Rules, 1977 till May 03, 2013.
