KARACHI: Customs Intelligence Peshawar has recovered narcotics worth millions of rupees from a passenger vehicle near Rashakai Interchange, district Nowshera.

Under instructions from Director Intelligence and Investigation (Customs) Peshawar, Dr. Asrlan Subuctageen, the campaign against smuggling of narcotics is in full swing. An information was received by the Director that a sizeable quantity of narcotics would be smuggled from tribal area to down country in a Honda Civic Motor Car.

In pursuance of the said information, the staff of Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation (Customs), Peshawar held a secret naka near Rashakai Interchange, District Nowshera. The suspected vehicle was spotted coming from Peshawar side which was signaled to stop but the driver, ignored the signal and sped away.

After chasing vehicle for some distance, it was stopped by the Anti-Narcotics Squad of the Directorate. The vehicle was being driven by one Aziz-ul-Haq S/o Aftab-ul-Haq who introduced himself as a journalist & TV anchor person and exhibited his press card. The vehicle was searched on spot and found contraband (Charas and Opium) in the spear tyre. The drug smuggler was arrested on the spot.

The vehicle was then brought to the premises of the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation (Customs)-FBR, Peshawar where thorough search led to the recovery of 05 Kgs Charas (gross) and 250gm Opium (gross), which has been seized along with carrier vehicle. The estimated value of the aforementioned seized goods is around Rs. 1.2 million. FIR has been lodged against Aziz-ul-Haq S/o Aftab-ul-Haq and further investigation is underway.
