KARACHI: February 01 was fixed for hearing by a division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) on Friday while hearing a petition filed by Rising Construction Company seeking release of a vehicle imported by it.

A division bench of SHC on 31-5-2017 ordered Pakistan Customs to release the vehicle in the presence of Nazir of SHC. Pakistan Customs allowed the release but Karachi International Container Terminal (KICT) authorities refused to free the vehicle as demurrage worth rupees 10 million have accumulated in the intervening period.

The customs show caused the KICT but they refused to reply and entertain the request on ground that they have an order of restraint passed by another bench of SHC. When the petition came up for hearing on Friday, Ms Dil Khurram Shaheen advocate appearing for the petitioner submitted that vehicle have been released in the past on payment of rupees 100,000 to 200,000 as parking fee and hence in her case too the same be applied. The SHC after hearing her fixed Feb 01 when controversy would be solved finally.
